Scenario: GIUK-02, Soviet Amphibious Assault on NATO Positions in Norway
          Created by Scott Witte HARPBBS#163

Background

Soviet naval forces are expected to launch an amphibious invasion in the
Norway area. The most likely target is Orland, Norway. Soviet success
in this region has given them air superiority along the northern coast of
Norway. Their ground forces have been bogged down fighting NATO forces in
the mountains near Orland. Satellite photos show a large amphibious task
force gathering near Rosta. This force could sail at any time. It is vital
that this force be stopped before reaching Orland. It is assumed the Soviets
plan to take advantage of their air superiority to cover their task force
during the approach to the landing area. Intelligence believes the Soviets
place great importance on the success of this mission. Expect them to pull
out all the stops to defend this task force.

US Naval forces are re-fitting after heavy fighting and are unable to respond
to this threat. Norwegian forces are limited. The weight of this battle will
fall on the British Royal Navy.

Blue Orders

Engage and destroy any Soviet amphibious vessels you detect sailing toward
Orland, Norway.

Intelligence Brief

Your Forces: The remnants of the Norwegian Air Force are attempting to
defend the Orland air base. Soviet forces will make every effort to destroy
this base. The Norwegian Navy has been non-committal. They have suffered
heavy losses and have only a few submarines remaining. The bulk of your
defensive force will come from the British Navy. Additional air forces will
be available from the British Royal Air Force and Navy.

Victory Conditions

You must find and destroy as many of the amphibious vessels the Soviets will
be sending south as your forces are able.

Game Notes

The human player should play the NATO (BLUE) side in this scenario. The
scenario has been designed with the computer playing the Soviet (RED) side.

Good Luck,
